Mission

The mission of Wakulla County Emergency Management is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Wakulla County using an all hazards whole community approach to the 5 phases of Emergency Management;  prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

What We Do

The Wakulla County Division of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency of our County and serves as liaison to the Florida Division of Emergency Management and other local emergency management agencies and organizations.

Emergency Management and Community Officials must be able to react promptly and effectively in the event of an incident, disaster, or major emergency. Often, there is no warning of emergencies such as with tornadoes, explosions, or major fires. The prevention of loss of life and property depends on rapid decision making.

The Director of Emergency Management is also responsible for the management of the county’s E911 System as well as the Communications Division.
